Water / Plumbing Certificate
The water and plumbing certificate confirms that the installation of plumbing on the property is compliant with municipal and construction regulations, according to the water/plumbing certificate. Most municipalities has a specific criteria for this, which is stated in its by-laws. The person issuing this certificate must be a licensed and registered plumber. The certificate does not have the same 2-year requirement as the electrical certificate and can be granted at any time. The parties cannot agree that, unlike in the case of an electrical certificate, the seller is not required to offer a plumbing certificate. It must be complied with because it is a necessity as stated in the by-laws. Before the date of the property transfer, the plumbing certificate must be filed with the relevant Municipality.
